Can I have lip blushing done if I suffer from cold sores on my lips?
Cold sores are a risk of lip blush tattoo only if you have had them in the past. If you have had a cold sore in the past, we advise that you consult with a doctor to obtain an anti-viral medication prior to any lip procedure as a preventative. You will need two rounds of anti-viral – one in prep for the initial application and another in prep for the follow up. We recommend Valtrex (pills) 7 days before your lip blushing appointment and after the appointment.
Does lip blushing hurt?
At iBrow and Beauty Boutique we use a numbing cream on the lips 15 minutes before starting lip blushing and during the procedure to help minimize pain and discomfort. The lower your pain tolerance, the more discomfort you might feel. However, some people may not feel much pain at all. Do not schedule you appointment during your menstrual cycle, do not take caffeine before coming to the salon, do not go tanning at least a week before you appointment, all of these will make you more sensitive.
How long does lip blushing last?
Six weeks after your initial lip blush appointment, you can go back for a touch up to fill in any light or uneven spots. Son notes that “after touch up, the lip blush tattoo will last from approximately two to five years.” Everyone’s skin is different, so the staying time will vary from client to client.Mar 2, 2020
Does lip blush make your lips bigger?
Lip blushing is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo that enhances the lips’ natural tint and shape, giving them a boost and a glossy touch. It’s designed to define and outline your lips, not to actually make them fuller. It gives the illusion that they’re fuller, but in a very natural way.
What does the lip blush treatment look like?
The treatment lasts between two to three hours. Firstly, you choose the pigment and the shape of your lips with the help and tips of the artist. The artist draws the desired shape, so you can make adjustments. Then, in order to make the procedure less painful, an anesthetic is applied before the treatment.
The pigment is applied with the advanced tattoo-like machine. After the healing period is finished, a touch up is required (8 weeks after), in order to correct any irregularities or add more pigment. You can also change the color if you decide that the one you chose is not the right for you.

If I have had a lip filler injection already, am I still a candidate for lip Blushing?
A minimum of 6 months post-filler is required before your Aquarelle Lip appointment. It is recommended that you have the permanent lip enhancement first and then the lip filler injection once lips are healed.
How does the artist choose the lip color?
You and your artist will discuss which colors suit you based on your natural lip color. Once your lips have healed, you may still enhance or change the color of your lips at anytime with conventional makeup. Your new lip tattoo is designed to act as a base, so it doesn’t mean you should throw out your lippy collection at all.
How will my lips look immediately after?
Your lips will look swollen and slightly larger than normal and look as though you may have had a slight lip filler injection. The degree of this varies from person to person. The pigment and lip color will look darker initially, like a bold lipstick. The size of your lips will shrink back to normal and the color will significantly fade up to 40% to 50% within the first 4 days. You will lose color on the inside of your lips first, the edges last. Right after the procedure lips normally feel dry, chapped, tight and tender to the touch. Similar to how a sunburn feels.
What factors will affect how my Lip Blushing look?
Excessive bleeding during a lip tattoo procedure will reduce the amount of pigment absorption. Caffeine, alcohol, certain food or drink, and certain medications or vitamins may act as stimulants and/or blood-thinners. They should avoided for a minimum 48 hours prior to your appointment.
Sun exposure: The sun will extremely soften the look of your lip tattoo, and may also change the color appearance of the pigment.
Lifestyle: Smokers, or anyone with skin that is in a state of distress may have less desirable results.
It is highly recommended that you avoid SUN and TANNING BED exposure for 30 days BEFORE and AFTER your procedure. If you show up for your appointment with a new tan or a sunburn, you will need to reschedule and pay a rescheduling fee. As your skin exfoliates from a sunburn, it will take the pigment with it.
